The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. Isaiah 61:1

BAPTISM
BAPTISM
God was working in the hearts of two women in our program as they accepted the Lord in class and expressed interest in being baptized. On March 26 at Dalhousie Community Church, we celebrated their baptism with friends and family. What a thrill it was to watch these women follow through with God leading in their lives!
BREAK THE CYCLE
On March 17 we had a fun-filled evening that started with a plain white house and ended with a fully painted house. Thanks to the generosity of everyone who came, this event promoted the birth of a second house for women to be freed from exploitation. As the evening went on, the house was painted according to funds coming in.
Not only was our goal of $50,000 reached but it was surpassed. Over $67,000 came in that night, affirming us that God is directing us to start planning for a second home. New West Symphony and Chorus blessed everyone with their repertoire of music and there was an amazing band, Bridgeland Revival playing during the meal as well. Both are incredibly talented and enjoyed by all. We are so grateful to our generous supporters of NSM and the mission God has entrusted us to. A big thanks to all of our volunteers, our event planner Michelle Moody and many others for making this event so successful.
NEW BOARD MEMBERS
This past month we welcomed two people to our board. Margie Schellenberg has been volunteering with us for about a year now and is our new secretary. Ian Watson will be a member at large and offers years of board experience and management skills. Thank you to both of them as they help make our board more diverse.
A HIGHLIGHT FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Each week I have the privilege to go into our Day Program class room to answer questions the participants have about spirituality. A common question that keeps coming up is: can you teach me to understand the bible? We are now starting classes on how to study the Bible. This last week we read John 1:1, which is a very confusing verse. We then learned the tool of cross referencing and it was really fun. The women were so excited to learn Word was Jesus! They felt confident and empowered and we can hardly wait for next week when I introduce another study tool. Praise God!
