April 2019 Newsletter

Next Step Ministries

Welcome!  So much happens here at NSM every day that we want to start sharing monthly a few highlights, lowlights and upcoming events to keep you better informed.  We hope this helps you feel more connected to what happens at NSM and gives you a bigger picture of the amazing work we get to do!
In collaboration with the talented Producer/Writer/Director Barb Briggs, we give a glimpse into the day program. We showed our participants this video for their feedback, there were a lot of tears and head nods, as it truly resonated with each of them.
  • New Merchandise. We are planning to open an online store before the end of 2019!  We are excited to provide on the job training for the women in the program as they will be a part of the designing and creating of the merchandise, running the store, customer relations and learning computer skills, all while creating sustainable funding!
  • Break the Cycle Fundraiser. We raised over $40,000 for NSM! Thanks to everyone who donated!
  • Valentines Banquet. A HUGE thank you to The Walk!
  • Father Daughter Ball. Shout out to Journey Church!
  • Guys N' Grills. Thank you Dalhousie Church!
  • Participants attended a Robb Nash concert. Thanks to Robb Nash for the tickets!
  • Justice Summit. Thanks to Harmony through Harmony for putting on the conference and having NSM on the panel!
  • Icelandic Substance Abuse Prevention Model training. Staff attended a new training designed to prevent substance abuse. Thanks, Planet Youth!
  • Occupant safety concerns. There have been some safety concerns with other occupants in our building which could be harmful to our participants. Please keep the safety of the NSM participants in your prayers.
  • A vital staff member going through a hard time. One of our staff members had her father-in-law and her grandmother pass away within a two week period, and her husband has consistent medical issues. Keep them in your prayers.
  • The NSM truck was broken into. The damage caused by the break-in rendered the truck undrivable.
