Next Step Ministries

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16
We are so grateful to all our supporters for this ministry. Our women (past and present) are well taken care of as well as our staff. We know that receiving gifts is special, but the real gift is Jesus! He knows every need. Thank you to all who hold these women in your hearts; they are worthy! Please pray for the women, especially during this season.

Christmas Eve is always a very special night for us and our staff. It is the night that we get to share the account of Jesus' Birth, why he came into this world and open gifts with the women in our houses.

It never fails, we as staff say to each other “this is the best day of the year”.

I believe we feel this way because when we meet the needs of those most in need, it pleases Jesus. For Jesus himself said “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for the least of these, you did for me”. He goes on to say that when we give clothes, shelter or a cup of cold water to someone in need it is like giving it to Him. The result is that we experience the thrill of serving Jesus and His peace and joy fills our lives.

I don’t want you to miss out. I want you to experience the peace and joy of Jesus this Christmas.

Christmas is Jesus' birthday, and at my house, we usually give the person who is having a birthday a gift.

My challenge is for you and your people is to think of something you could give or do for someone in need as a gift to Jesus for his birthday.

The first thing you do is pray and ask Jesus to reveal to you someone that is in need. Rather than assuming you know what it is they need. Take the time to ASK them What do you need? Then do it.

Here are some ideas to get you started. Some needs that I have been told recently.

Maybe they need...

  • Help with a utility bill, or a car payment, or the rent
  • A nativity scene or a bible or lights
  • Groceries or a grocery store gift card
  • Someone to listen to their story, to pray with them, to assure them God’s got this
  • Someone to show them how to cook the turkey or a place to cook it
  • A gift card to a coffee shop
  • A kid-free night, and could use a free babysitter
  • A night off from cooking, and could use a homemade meal
  • Help with gas for their car
  • A night out with friends
  • Help to make this Christmas special for their children
  • A night out singing Christmas carols (invite them to a Christmas Eve service!)
  • Maybe they have always wanted someone to go with them to serve the poor in the community
  • Someone to make a donation to a local agency on their behalf so that they can know the feeling of giving back.

Once you know the need, go out and meet the need. If you get the chance, tell them about Jesus and how much God loves them.

One last thing: Please let me know what you did. Send the results of the challenge to me a I want to use the results to help others with ideas.

From all of us at Next Step Ministries, we wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family! May the peace and joy that comes from knowing Jesus and helping others fill your homes.

We have an anonymous donor who is willing to match up to $10,000 in donations to NSM by the end of the year! You can donate HERE.
