Ways to Share the Blessings of Hope with Women this Giving Season
You'll be entered to win $50 of For the Sparrows credit when you complete the survey by November 19th!
Message from Executive Director, George McGregor

As our local community faces an increasing number of women being impacted by sexual exploitation and sex trafficking, Next Step Ministries continues to faithfully provide safety, programming, opportunities and skills to help them move beyond trauma and towards building a life of freedom and choice. Every one of your prayers and gifts matters to a woman in need, so “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
Show the most vulnerable women who are hurting that they're a part of a community that cares.

Here are 5 Ways to Give this Season:
#1 Plan to Make a Special Gift and Double Your Impact!
All donations made on #GivingTuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, will be matched by our generous partner, Purpose Realty to a maximum of $15,000.00!

So, mark your calendar to ensure your gift goes twice as far in helping a vulnerable woman to receive the spiritual, emotional and trauma-informed support she needs.
All online donations and mailed post-dated cheques are eligible.

If you, or your company, would like to also be a matching donor, there's still time. Email Sharon to learn more.
#2 Sponsor a Woman Survivor or NSM Alumni this Christmas!
Christmas can be a really triggering time of year for survivors of sexual exploitation. This season, you can sponsor a survivor at NSM by purchasing items on their Christmas list or donating to NSM and we will do the shopping. Email us to get connected with a staff member for more information!
#3 Shop from Next Step Ministries' Amazon Wish List!
We have compiled a greatest needs list for uncomplicated gifting that includes items needed to support women in outreach, housing, day program and follow care. If you would like to make a tangible gift donation that can be wrapped and shipped directly to the NSM office, click here to start shopping.
#4 Pre-order your Fresh Winter Greenery and Support NSM!
Purchase a holiday wreath or Christmas-themed outdoor planter, made by participants in the day program who will gain skills working alongside professional florists at The Chinook Gardener, a supportive partner of NSM. Proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly towards wrap-around supports for the women. Click here for more details.
#5 Gifts that Give Back!

Staff Spotlight: Meet Our Director of Development, Sharon Kilbourn
Sharon is inspired in her role as fundraiser at NSM as she sees seeds of hope and buds of faith being planted every day in hearts and minds of the women we serve, knowing this has been made possible thanks to the generosity from a compassionate and faithful community.
In 2022, she is on a mission to introduce donors to the impact their gifts are making, no matter their giving capacity. Keep reading...
Did you Know?
Since the start of COVID-19:

- NSM has increased the number of staff in response to the growing demand for our trauma-informed programs and wrap-around care.

- NSM became accredited to lead the 'Genesis Process,' a systematic counselling program designed to treat the person first, and addiction second. It works by identifying and working through underlying issues that drive compulsive behaviour through the integration of Biblical precepts for personal change, proven relapse prevention techniques, cognitive therapy principles, and the latest neurochemistry research relating to human behaviour.

- NSM has been recognized by the City of Calgary, Government of Alberta and Government of Canada as a leading non-profit organization that continued to provide significant gender-based violence supports and services to women.

" I now know what it feels like to experience hope, all because a staff member believed in me."

Next Step Ministries honours and acknowledges the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III. Next Step Ministries is situated on land adjacent to where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, and that the traditional Blackfoot name of this place is Moh’kins’tsis, which we now call the City of Calgary.
