Entrepreneurship and Opportunity for Survivors of Sexual Exploitation
Economic Empowerment and Survivor Microenterprise
Economic stability is an ongoing barrier to an independent life for women survivors of sexual exploitation. We believe in supporting the creative inspiration of each woman and have developed a microenterprise program to support entrepreneurship for our participants. Read more about the impact of microenterprise here.

Our latest microenterprise product is macrame feathers of various colours pictured above. By purchasing these products you are directly supporting, financially and relationally, a survivor in our day program as the funds generated from the sales go directly back to the participant upon their planned, positive exit from program.

Send a meaningful gift that helps women thrive!
You still have time to honour a mom or other exceptional woman in your life. Think how glad she'll be when you explain that her gift is supporting the creation of jobs for survivors of exploitation.

This playful and bright design on the most recent tote was specially crafted with women, particularly mothers, in mind. Plus, we think tote bags should be a staple in every woman's handbag collection. The latest periwinkle coffee (or tea) mug is also guaranteed to be a gifting favourite.

She also knows how much being a part of a grassroots business has built up her own confidence and abilities. This is the vision that she has for the women in Next Step Ministries and that she brings to the For the Sparrows program, the social enterprise portion of the organization. Keep Reading...

Make a meaningful donation to celebrate mothers today!
Many of the survivors in the recovery program are mothers who are doing the work to not only have a brighter future for themselves, but ultimately for their children who have been affected.

Next Step Ministries is a part of the solution and invites you to also step into a survivors's story by helping financially to provide job skills training and enterprise support to those eager to start a small business.

Next Step Ministries honours and acknowledges the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III. Next Step Ministries is situated on land adjacent to where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, and that the traditional Blackfoot name of this place is Moh’kins’tsis, which we now call the City of Calgary.
